Abstract

Resumo Teatro é uma arte coletiva, e nada relacionado ao fazer teatral se dá de forma isolada, o que, claramente, inclui a tradução. Entretanto, o trabalho dos tradutores teatrais1 costuma se limitar à entrega do texto traduzido, encerrando-se aí sua participação no processo de encenação. Este artigo visa repensar o lugar ocupado pelos tradutores nesse processo, demonstrando o quanto têm a oferecer para toda a equipe envolvida na encenação, contribuindo, assim, para que o resultado em cena seja mais promissor. Além da proposta de aproximação entre tradutores e encenação, o presente artigo propõe meios de fomentar uma maior integração entre a cena e o público.

Translated abstract

Abstract Theatre is a collective art, and nothing related to making theatre happens in isolation, which of course includes translation. Nevertheless, the job of a theatre translator is usually limited to delivering a translated text, with any participation in the staging process ending at this point. This paper seeks to rethink the place that theatre translators hold in this process, showing how much they have to offer to the entire team involved in the staging process, therefore contributing to a more promising result on stage. In addition to proposing closer ties between the translator and staging, this paper also aims to propose means to foster greater integration between the stage and the audience.
