          Abstract

          Objetivo: Evaluar el grado de satisfacción laboral de los profesionales de enfermería que trabajan en una institución de salud de cuarto nivel de atención de la ciudad de Bogotá, Colombia, durante el año 2011. Método: Estudio descriptivo, de corte transversal, con una población de 105 profesionales de enfermería que trabajan en una institución de salud de cuarto nivel de atención. Se utilizó el Cuestionario Font-Roja, instrumento de medida de la satisfacción laboral en el medio hospitalario de Aranaz y Mira. La información se analizó por medio del programa estadístico SPSS Versión 15.0, se calculó el test de ANOVA y se exploraron fuerzas de asociación entre las variables. Resultados: Se obtuvo un 80% de participación. La satisfacción laboral media de los profesionales de enfermería de esta institución hospitalaria es de 2.91 (DE: 0.23). Las enfermeras presentaron mayor insatisfacción en relación con los hombres. Se presentaron relaciones estadísticamente significativas entre la satisfacción laboral y el tipo de universidad de la cual fue egresado el profesional de enfermería respecto a los factores de competencia profesional, características extrínsecas de estatus y monotonía laboral. Al explorar las fuerzas de asociación entre las variables, se identificó que el servicio en el cual los profesionales de enfermería cumplen sus actividades es interpretado como un factor protector frente a la insatisfacción por el trabajo. Conclusiones: No se hallaron relaciones estadísticamente significativas entre la satisfacción laboral de los enfermeros en relación con el género, la edad, la formación académica y el servicio al cual se hallan asignados.

          Translated abstract

          Objective: To evaluate the degree of job satisfaction of nurses who work in a health care fourth level of Bogotá, Colombia. Method: A descriptive cross-sectional, with a population of 105 nurses working in a health care level four. Questionnaire was used Font-Roja, instrument for measuring job satisfaction in hospitals of Aranaz and Mira. Data were analyzed using the SPSS Version 15.0 was calculated ANOVA and forces explored association between variables. Results: We obtained an 80% stake. The average job satisfaction of nurses in this hospital facility is 2.91 (SD 0.23). The nurses show greater dissatisfaction in relation to men. Showed statistically significant relationships between job satisfaction and the type of college which was discharged the nurse regarding factors of competence, status and extrinsic characteristics of work monotony. In exploring the forces of association between variables, it was identified that the service in which nurses perform their activities is interpreted as a protective factor against job dissatisfaction. Conclusions: We found no statistically significant relationships between job satisfaction of nurses in relation to gender, age, educational background and service to which they are assigned.

          Objetivo: Avaliar o grau de satisfação no trabalho dos profissionais de enfermagem que trabalham em uma instituição de saúde de quarto nível de atenção da cidade de Bogotá, na Colombia, durante o ano 2011. Método: Estudo descritivo, de corte transversal, com uma população de 105 profissionais de enfermagem que trabalham em uma instituição de saúde de quarto nível de atenção. Utilizou-se o questionário Front-Roja, instrumento de medida da satisfação no trabalho no meio hospitalar de Aranaz e Mira. A informação se analisou por meio do programa estatístico SPSS Versão 15.0, calculou-se o teste de ANOVA e se exploraram forças de associação entre as variáveis.           The nursing practice environment: measurement and evidence.

          Improvements in nurses' practice environments are essential to retain nurses and keep patients safe. The pace of improvements can accelerate if evidence is translated clearly for researchers, managers, and policymakers. This article evaluates the utility of published multidimensional instruments to measure the nursing practice environment. The assessment criteria are theoretical relevance, ease of use, and dissemination. This article also synthesizes the research that has used these instruments. Seven instruments and 54 studies are evaluated. The Practice Environment Scale of the Nursing Work Index (PES-NWI) is proposed as the most useful instrument. Its content, length, and dissemination best satisfy the set of criteria. Researchers should use the PES-NWI to generate consistent and comparable evidence; expand the content to reflect all conceptual domains; develop a short form; test the instrument in different care settings; expand the evidence of the practice environment's influence on patient outcomes; and test interventions for practice environment improvements.

            Job satisfaction of nursing staff working in hospitals.

            Job satisfaction remains an important consideration for both employer and employee and, despite numerous investigations, many questions about it remain unanswered. Many research methodologies have been used with varying degrees of success. However, the trend is now away from simple correlational studies towards modelling techniques. Data from 221 female nurses working full-time in hospitals were collected using questionnaires delivered with monthly salary cheques. The model presented had many statistically significant path coefficients including (in order of size): benefits, participation in decision making, education, routine, promotion, and opportunity for advancement outside their institution. The level of salary was not found to be a statistically significant factor in determining job satisfaction.
