          Abstract

We report a rare case of sinus of Valsalva aneurysm of left aortic sinus, which was bulging into left atrium (LA) distorting mitral valve and rupture into the left ventricle with severe aortic regurgitation in a 25 years old male patient. Due to the rupture, both aortic and mitral valves were irreparable and required a double valve replacement along with the closure of the neck of the aneurysmal cavity occupying the left atrial roof.

Ruptured aneurysm of the sinus of Valsalva into the left ventricle: a case report and review of the literature.

This report describes a case of right coronary sinus of Valsalva aneurysm which ruptured into the left ventricle. The diagnosis was made with two-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography which showed an abnormal structure extending from the aortic root into the left ventricle adjacent to the interventricular septum. Subsequent examinations with transesophageal echocardiography and aortic root angiography and surgical findings confirmed the diagnosis of transthoracic echocardiography. The patient underwent aortic valve replacement. At follow-up 12 months later, the patient was without symptoms and repeated echocardiographic examinations showed no recurrence.

Infective endocarditis resulting in rupture of sinus of Valsalva with a rupture site communicating with both the right atrium and right ventricle.

This report describes a patient with a rupture of the noncoronary sinus of Valsalva caused by erosion of its wall by a large right atrial vegetation not attached to the tricuspid valve without aortic valve involvement. The rupture site was located right posterior to the tricuspid septal leaflet and communicated both with the right atrium and the right ventricular inflow tract, resulting in a significant left-to-right shunt leading to severe right heart failure and shock. The diagnosis was made by transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography. To our knowledge no similar case has been reported in the literature.
