          Abstract

          En este artículo se identifican, ponderan y valoran los factores que intervienen en la percepción de la calidad de servicio del transporte público en un corredor urbano que se caracteriza por una gestión delegada con tarifa fija y competencia en calidad. Mediante un modelo logit con especificación lineal de la función de utilidad, se estiman los coeficientes de cada factor de calidad de servicio para diferentes segmentos y estratos de la población. Los resultados de la estimación econométrica determinan la importancia, peso y valor de cada factor en términos de utilidad. De esta manera se obtiene que los factores principales que determinan la calidad del servicio son: el estado físico de los autobuses, la forma de manejo del conductor, la tarifa (costo del viaje), el tiempo que está dentro del autobús (tiempo de viaje) y el trato al usuario.

          Translated abstract

          This article identifies, ponders and evaluates the factors involved in the perception of service quality of public transport in an urban corridor characterised by a flat-rate with a delegated management and quality competition. With the help of a logit model with linear specification of the utility function, we estimate the coefficients for each service quality factor for different segments and strata of the population. The results of the econometric estimation determine the importance, weight and value of each factor in terms of utility. We conclude that the main factors that determine the service quality are: the physical state of the buses, the driving, the tariff (cost of travel), the time one is inside the bus (travel time) and the treatment towards the passenger.

          The Theory of Industrial Organization

          The Theory of Industrial Organization is the first primary text to treat the new industrial organization at the advanced-undergraduate and graduate level. In Part II, Tirole takes up strategic interaction between firms, starting with a novel treatment of the Bertrand-Cournot interdependent pricing problem. He studies how capacity constraints, repeated interaction, product positioning, advertising, and asymmetric information affect competition or tacit collusion. He then develops topics having to do with long term competition, including barriers to entry, contestability, exit, and research and development.
