          Abstract

          RESUMEN El estudio reporta un ejercicio de revisión del concepto de desarrollo de las habilidades sociales en estudiantes con vistas a contribuir a la mejora del clima escolar de las instituciones. El estudio tiene como objetivo demostrar la influencia del desarrollo de las habilidades sociales en la mejora del clima escolar en una institución educativa. El estudio es de diseño no experimental, de tipo correlacional con metodología cuantitativa. La población comprendió de 54 estudiantes y la muestra fue censal. Se utilizó como instrumento dos cuestionarios estandarizados, para la variable habilidades sociales se utilizó el cuestionario de Goldstein, el cual comprendió cinco dimensiones, para la variable clima escolar, se utilizó el cuestionario Classroom Environment Scale (CES). Según los resultados se obtuvo el valor de R = 0,712 y el p < 0,01 por lo que se afirma que existe una correlación positiva y alta entre ambas variables, concluyendo que las habilidades sociales tienen influencia en el clima escolar y sus dimensiones.

          ABSTRACT The study reports a review exercise of the concept of social skills development in students with a view to contribute to the improvement of school climate in institutions. The study aims to demonstrate the influence of social skills development on the improvement of school climate in an educational institution. The study is of non-experimental design, correlational type with quantitative methodology. The population consisted of 54 students and the sample was a census. Two standardized questionnaires were used as instruments: for the social skills variable, the Goldstein questionnaire was used, which comprised five dimensions; for the school climate variable, the Classroom Environment Scale (CES) questionnaire was used. According to the results, the value of R = 0.712 and p < 0.01 were obtained, so it is affirmed that there is a positive and high correlation between both variables, concluding that social skills have an influence on school climate and its dimensions.

          RESUMO O estudo relata um exercício de revisão do conceito de desenvolvimento de habilidades sociais nos estudantes com o objetivo de contribuir para a melhoria do clima escolar nas instituições. O estudo visa demonstrar a influência do desenvolvimento de habilidades sociais na melhoria do clima escolar em uma instituição de ensino. O estudo é um projeto não experimental, correlacional com metodologia quantitativa. A população consistia de 54 estudantes e a amostra foi um censo. Dois questionários padronizados foram utilizados como instrumentos: para a variável habilidades sociais, foi utilizado o questionário Goldstein, que compreendia cinco dimensões; para a variável clima escolar, foi utilizado o questionário Escala de Ambiente de Aula (CES). De acordo com os resultados, o valor de R = 0,712 e p < 0,01 foram obtidos, portanto, afirma-se que existe uma correlação positiva e alta entre ambas as variáveis, concluindo-se que as habilidades sociais têm influência no clima escolar e em suas dimensões.

          Emotional intelligence as predictor of mental, social, and physical health in university students.

          This study examined the association between emotional intelligence (EI), anxiety, depression, and mental, social, and physical health in university students. The sample was made up of 184 university students (38 men and 146 women). El was evaluated by the Trait Meta-Mood Scale (Salovey, Mayer, Goldman, Turvey, and Palfai, 1995), which evaluates the three dimensions (Attention, Clarity, and Mood Repair). Anxiety was evaluated with the Trait Anxiety Questionnaire (Spielberger, Gorsuch, Lushene, Vagg, and Jacobs, 1983) and depression with the Beck Depression Inventory (Beck, Rush, Shaw, and Emery, 1979). Mental, social, and physical health were evaluated with the SF-12 Health Survey (Ware, Kosinski, and Keller, 1996). Results showed that high Emotional Attention was positively and significantly related to high anxiety, depression, and to low levels of Role Emotional, Social Functioning, and Mental Health. However, high levels of emotional Clarity and Mood Repair were related to low levels of anxiety and depression, high Role Physical, Social Functioning, Mental Health, Vitality, and General Health. This study confirmed the predictive value of Attention, Clarity and Mood Repair regarding the levels of anxiety, depression, and areas related to mental, social, and physical health in university students.

              Victimización escolar: clima familiar, autoestima y satisfacción con la vida desde una perspectiva de género

              En este estudio se analizan en una muestra de adolescentes escolarizados las relaciones entre la percepción del clima familiar y la victimización por los iguales en la escuela junto con la autoestima y la satisfacción con la vida, teniendo en cuenta el género. Las relaciones entre las variables se han analizado en una muestra constituida por 1.884 adolescentes (52% chicos y 48% chicas) escolarizados en centros educativos de secundaria con edades comprendidas entre los 11 y los 17 años (M = 13.7, DT = 1.4). Los resultados del análisis de un modelo de ecuaciones estructurales muestran que la percepción del clima familiar, la autoestima y la satisfacción con la vida se relacionan de forma significativa y negativa con la victimización escolar. Se realizaron análisis multigrupo que no mostraron diferencias significativas entre chicos y chicas, por tanto el modelo general propuesto es equivalente para ambos géneros. Se discuten los resultados obtenidos y sus implicaciones.
