          Abstract

          Resumen: Este artículo presenta un estudio de validación de una escala para evaluar las competencias docentes. Se conformó una muestra de 1,495 estudiantes universitarios de los grados de Educación infantil y primaria en Córdoba, España, los cuales respondieron a un cuestionario auto-informe. Se exploró y se confirmó la estructura factorial del instrumento en torno a dos competencias: organizacionales y didácticas. La escala presentó buenas propiedades psicométricas y altos índices de fiabilidad. Una vez obtenida la Escala de competencias docentes organizacionales y didácticas, se utilizó para conocer la percepción de los estudiantes sobre su desarrollo competencial y conocer diferencias en función del curso, especialidad y género. Se discute el aporte de esta escala y su utilidad para la investigación y la evaluación de las competencias organizativas y didácticas de docentes en formación inicial y en ejercicio profesional.

          Translated abstract

          Abstract: This article presents a validating study of a scale to evaluate teachers’ competencies. The sample included 1,495 university students of preschool and elementary education in Cordoba, Spain. The participants answered a self-reporting questionnaire. The factorial structure of the instrument was explored and confirmed for two competencies: organizational and didactic. The scale showed good psychometric properties and high indexes of reliability. Once the scale of organization and didactic competencies had been obtained, it was used to discover the students’ perceptions of the development of competencies; it was also employed to determine differences as a function of course, specialty, and gender. The discussion is centered on the scale’s contribution and usefulness for research, and the evaluation of organizational and didactic competencies in pre-service and in-service teachers.
