Abstract
A case of Vipera berus (European adder) snake bite to the forehead is reported, which
caused extensive oedema of the head and trunk and petechial haemorrhages. These resolved
over several days but there was a persistent unilateral facial frontalis muscle paresis
and ptosis most likely due to the location of the bite in the left fronto-temporal
area.
