Abstract Based on specimens of Chrysomelidae (Coleoptera: Chrysomeloidea) collected in urban sectors of the Coquimbo Region, Trachymela sloanei (Blackburn, 1897), a phytophagous species of Australian origin considered a pest of Eucalyptus, is recorded for the first time in Chile. It is presumed that this species was recently introduced and established in this region of the country because the records so far known are limited to a few localities of the Province of Elqui. Photographs of the adult are provided to facilitate identification, along with distribution records and general information of the habitat where the species was collected.
