          Abstract

          RESUMO Este artigo traz a informação e o empreendedorismo acadêmico como temáticas centrais, pesquisadas à luz da Biologia do Conhecer. Objetiva identificar onde está situada a informação que dá suporte à mentalidade empreendedora de acadêmicos da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), no Brasil, e Western University, no Canadá, caracterizando os ambientes familiar e acadêmico aos quais estão expostos. Baseada em dois estudos de caso, a pesquisa tem característica qualitativa e descritiva, e os dados foram coletados a partir de entrevistas estruturadas que consideraram a história de vida de sete professores da UFMG e sete ex-alunos da Western University. As principais evidências são de que a informação determinante da mentalidade empreendedora foi construída a partir de dois fatores em interação: as características biológicas dos sujeitos de pesquisa, abertos à iniciativa empreendedora, e a influência primeira do ambiente familiar, seja através de experiências de vida ou memórias de palavras e atitudes dos pais e familiares. O ambiente acadêmico também se mostrou relevante, podendo incentivar ou se apresentar como barreira ao empreendedorismo. Destaca-se a relevância da educação empreendedora, fundamental para a formação do sujeito cognoscente e decisor, em constante interação com outros sujeitos e ambientes.

          Translated abstract

          ABSTRACT This article brings information and academic entrepreneurship as central themes, researched in the light of the Biology of Knowing. It aims to identify where is located the information that supports the entrepreneurial mindset of academics at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), in Brazil, and Western University, in Canada, characterizing the family and academic environments to which they are exposed. Based on two case studies, the research has a qualitative and descriptive characteristic, and data were collected from structured interviews that considered the life stories of seven UFMG professors and seven Western University alumni. The primary evidence is that the determinant information of the entrepreneurial mentality was built from two factors in interaction: the biological characteristics of the research subjects, open to the entrepreneurial initiative, and the primary influence of the family environment, whether through life experiences or memories of words and attitudes of parents and relatives. The academic environment was also relevant, being able to encourage or act as a barrier to entrepreneurship. The relevance of entrepreneurial education is highlighted, fundamental for the formation of the knowing and decision-making subject, in constant interaction with other subjects and environments.
