Abstract

Com base na teoria dos complexos regionais de segurança da Escola de Copenhaga discutimos as causas imediatas e as consequências da política turca face ao conflito israelo-palestiniano, bem como apresentamos as mudanças de política externa face ao Médio Oriente ocorridas desde a eleição do AKP (Partido da Justiça e Desenvolvimento) de Recep Tayyip Erdogan em 2002. Posteriormente, ocupamo-nos do comportamento da Turquia face à actual crise de Gaza e, por fim, analisamos as possíveis causas e consequências da potencial inflexão da política externa turca face ao Médio Oriente.

Translated abstract

Taking as a starting point the Copenhagen School’s theory of regional complexes, this article debates the immediate causes and consequences of the Turkish policy to the Israel-Palestine conflict, and the changes that occurred on the Turkish foreign policy for the Middle East since the AKP (Justice and Development Party) of Recep Tayyip Erdogan was elected in 2002. Furthermore it will reflect on Turkey’s behavior on what concerns the present Gaza crisis and on the causes and consequences of the potential transformation on the Turkish foreign policy for the Middle East.
