          Abstract

A 24-year-old male presented with a painless yellowish lesion on the nasal part of his cornea that extended to the paracentral area. Without a confirmed clinical diagnosis, the patient was advised surgical removal of the lesion. The lesion showed a smooth, elevated anterior surface without any signs of inflammation. On making a small incision over the lesion, we found yellowish material being extruded from the lesion. Cytological evaluation of the material revealed clear vacuolated cells suggestive of lipocytes, based on which we diagnosed it a rare case of corneal lipoma.

Subconjunctival fat prolapse and dermolipoma of the orbit: differentiation on CT and MR imaging.

Subconjunctival fat prolapse and dermolipoma of the orbit are unfamiliar to radiologists and yet should be differentiated because their treatments are different. The purpose of this study was to investigate the CT and MR imaging findings that distinguish these 2 conditions.

            Fibrolipoma of the orbit.

A 47-year-old woman presented with a growing mass on the lateral rim of orbit. Orbital CT revealed a well-circumscribed soft tissue mass in the right lateral orbit, with focal hyperostosis of the adjacent zygomatic bone. MRI showed a lesion of mixed T1-signal intensity, which became hypointense after fat suppression. The lesion was excised, and the diagnosis of orbital fibrolipoma was made by histopathologic examination. There was no evidence of tumor after 12 months of follow-up. Orbital fibrolipoma is a rare variant of lipoma, with only 1 case described previously. It should be considered in the differential diagnosis of orbital mass.

Spindle cell lipoma of the orbit.

A 30-year-old otherwise healthy female patient presented to the oculoplastic service with complaints of gradually increasing proptosis and discomfort of the OD of about 4 months' duration. On imaging, an ill-defined mass was seen in the right orbit which, on biopsy, turned out to be a spindle cell lipoma. Lipomas, the commonest among the mesenchymal soft tissue tumors, are surprisingly of rare occurrence in the orbit, despite the presence of abundant fat in the intraorbital space. The authors describe the presentation, management, and outcome of a rare orbital pathology--an orbital spindle cell lipoma.
