Abstract

RESUMEN En este artículo se intenta describir, a través de un estudio de caso, qué noción tienen los profesores acerca del conflicto, cómo se desarrolla y cómo se previene. Los conflictosescolares no son más habituales que antes en nuestras escuelas, pero sí aparecen casosmuy llamativos, sobre todo desde la ampliación de la edad de permanencia en el sistemaescolar hasta los dieciséis años. Entre los resultados más importantes del estudio destacamos que los conflictos más frecuentes en el centro se producen durante las explicaciones en el aula. Sin embargo, no es el único motivo, hay muchos otros, como son: llegar tarde a clase, las burlas al profesorado, la falta de respeto del alumnado a sus iguales, las agresionesverbales y físicas, entre otros. Normalmente estos incidentes suceden en el aula yen menor medida en los espacios comunes del centro educativo. Los altercados más numerosos se sitúan en los niveles educativos de primero y segundo de la Educación Secundaria Obligatoria (12 a 14 años)

ABSTRACT This article attempts to describe, through a case study, what notions teaching staff have concerning conflict, how it develops and how it might be prevented. Conflicts inschools are no more common now than in the past, though some cases do attract a gooddeal of attention, especially since the school-leaving age was raised to sixteen. Amongthe most important results of the study is the fact that conflicts occur most frequentlyduring lesson time. However, there are many other occasions when conflict occurs, such as: late arrival at school, the mocking of teaching staff, disrespect shown among peers, verbal and physical abuse, among others. Normally, these incidents take place in the classroom and, to a lesser extent, in recreational or common areas in the educational institution. The highest number of altercations are found in first and second year of Compulsory Secondary Education (12 to 14 years)
