          Abstract

Equipping students with the ability to think creatively is one of the goals of mathematics. Creative thinking needs to be developed. This research aims to see whether there are differences in the ability to think creatively between think pairs sharing cooperative learning using BALBAN (comparison blocks) and direct learning in class VII SMP Ma'Arif 1 Metro. This type of quantitative research uses data collection methods: observation, post-test, interviews, and documentation, to see the accuracy and validity of the data to measure with field results. In this case, the research method uses a static group comparison design. The quantitative research sample comprised 26 students from class VII A (experimental class) and 22 from class VII B (control class). The homogeneity test in this study used the Levene test. Hypothesis testing in this study used the t-test of two independent samples. The results show a difference between think-pair cooperative learning using the BALBAN (comparison block) and direct learning. Using the cooperative learning paradigm of think-pair-share assisted by BALBAN on material comparison of values and turns of SMP Ma'arif 1 Metro grade VII students, this research seeks to identify differences and define students' creative thinking abilities. The design used in this research was a static comparison design with a total sample of 26 students from the experimental class and 22 students from the control class. The findings of quantitative data analysis using the t-test of two independent samples, as a result, indicating that the experimental class has more innovative thinking than the control group.
