          Abstract

          Resumen Se presenta una aproximación teórico-metodológica para el estudio del ausentismo en el nivel medio superior desde un enfoque meso-sociológico. Muestra el proceso de construcción y aplicación de una encuesta exploratoria a 115 estudiantes de cinco modalidades del subsistema en la Ciudad de México. Primero, se discuten algunas perspectivas teóricas más utilizadas para el análisis del ausentismo, con el propósito de ubicar las herramientas conceptuales y metodológicas que dieron lugar a la construcción de una tipología del ausentismo acorde al caso mexicano. Posteriormente, se explica el universo de estudio, así como el modelo aplicado y su procedimiento. Por último, se plantea un análisis sobre los límites y espacios de oportunidad del proceso de aplicación de la encuesta propuesta para el estudio del ausentismo en contextos escolares plurales y diferenciados.

          Translated abstract

          Abstract This article discusses a methodological approach to the study of absenteeism in Mexican high school education from a meso-sociological perspective. The design of an exploratory survey is shown, applied to 115 students from five different types of schools in Mexico City. First of all, some theoretical perspectives more used for the analysis of absenteeism are discussed, in order to locate some conceptual and methodological tools that led the construction of a typology of absenteeism applicable to the Mexican case. Subsequently, the universe of study is explained as well as the applied model and procedures. Finally, this work presents an analysis on opportunities and limitations in the application of the proposed instrument for the study of absenteeism in plural and differentiated contexts.
