Resumen: El presente artículo examinará los cambios políticos y administrativos que se sucedieron en la ciudad de Rosario a partir de la instalación del cuerpo municipal. Se mostrará que su creación formó parte de un proceso de equipamiento político a partir de una compleja variedad de instituciones (Jefatura Política, Jefatura de Policía, Juzgado de 1ra Instancia, Comisarías, Tribunal de Comercio, etc.) que redefinió la administración y modificó la estructura institucional del gobierno local. Las preguntas que guían la investigación son: ¿Cómo se gobernaba la ciudad? ¿Qué significó para la administración local la creación de la municipalidad? ¿Qué impacto tuvo su instalación en la dinámica política? ¿Cuál fue su injerencia a nivel local?.
