          Abstract

          Translated abstract

Studies were carried out in rice fields located at the Río Guárico Irrigation System (R.G.I.S.) and within the Guárico Experimental Station in Calabozo, Venezuela since 2003 to 2006. The goal was to evaluate the degree of effectiveness of 3 doses of the insecticide thiamethoxan and the commercial products ethophenprox 10.9% EC and monocrotophos 600 SL to control Tagosodes orizicolus Muir (1926) (Homoptera: Delphacidae). In total there were 6 treatments in a factorial experiment completely random design with four replications to determine the degree of effectiveness using a formulation from Abbot's corrected. We found that the thiamethoxan 25% (100 i.a and 75 g ha-1), had an effectiveness over 77%, and was the best of the evaluated treatments. We also shown the information of the commercial test of the insecticide (thiamethoxan 25%) with the commercial dose of 100 g ha-1, for control of the sogata insect, in the farm 590 and 15 (INIA) of R.G.I.S in Calabozo Miranda County. The evaluations were made at the 24 hours, and 7 and 14 days after applied the product, and we found an average of 82% of control of sogata planthopper in both farms. We also described the methodology and forms to evaluate the sogata insect under field conditions in rice agrosystems.
