Abstract

Las investigaciones académicas sobre imagen de eventos han crecido en los últimos años. El conjunto de percepciones que un individuo tiene respecto de un evento puede ser interpretado como la imagen del mismo. Este artículo se propuso analizar la imagen de la “Fiesta de São João” realizada en la ciudad de Campina Grande según la percepción del visitante del evento. Se buscó investigar las relaciones entre las variables que forman la perspectiva del visitante y comprender cuál de las seis dimensiones de la imagen de un evento tiene mayor poder de explicación para la satisfacción del visitante. Esta investigación cuantitativa, de carácter exploratorio y descriptivo, utiliza el método científico y las técnicas de investigación bibliográfica y survey. A partir de estas técnicas de investigación se establecieron dos etapas, la primera contempló el relevamiento bibliográfico realizado en las bases de datos y revistas científicas; y la segunda, el estudio de campo realizado en el Parque do Povo. Se entrevistaron 516 individuos durante siete días en la edición 2014 de la Fiesta de São João. El análisis de los datos se realizó a partir de técnicas estadísticas descriptivas (frecuencia, media, moda, mediana y desvío patrón) y multivariadas (correlación de Pearson y regresión logística). Entre los principales resultados, la dimensión “beneficio” fue la mejor evaluada por los visitantes y las “instalaciones” obtuvieron las peores medias. Finalmente, los resultados presentados demuestran gran relevancia para los organizadores del evento, pues además de evaluar el perfil y la satisfacción de los visitantes, abordan aspectos de la imagen de la fiesta como un todo.

The image of events is a growing subject of academic research. The series of perceptions that an individual has about an event can be interpreted as it's image. This study analyzes the image of the “Feast of São João” which takes place in Campina Grande, Paraíba, in the perceptions of visitors to the event. To do this, it was sought to investigate the relationships between the variables that form the perspective of the visitor and to understand which of the six dimensions of the image of an event have a greater power of explanation for the satisfaction of the visitor. This quantitative, exploratory and descriptive study uses the scientific method, and a literature review and survey as the research techniques. Two stages were established; first, a literature was carried out on databases and scientific journals, and secondly, field research conducted in the Parque do Povo. A total of 516 individuals were interviewed over the seven days of the Feast of São João, in its 2014 edition. The data analysis used descriptive statistical techniques (frequency, mean, mode, median, standard deviation) and multivariate techniques (Pearson’s correlation and logistic regression). Among the main results, the item "benefit" was the one that received the best assessment in the perception of visitors, while "facilities" were the one with the worst assessment. Finally, the results found are of great importance to the events organizers, as they evaluate the visitor profile and satisfaction, also addressing aspects of the event image as a whole.
