Abstract

En este artículo pretendo plantear algunos interrogantes en torno a la orientación y transición sociolaboral de los jóvenes en las coordenadas de la sociedad contemporánea; se analiza también la tremenda paradoja en la que se ven envueltos muchos jóvenes cuando tratan de acceder a un primer, segundo, tercer... empleo: "El trabajo de buscar trabajo". Esta es una experiencia común y compartida por muchos jóvenes cuando tratan de hacerse un hueco en el complejo panorama laboral. La situación de búsqueda de un puesto de trabajo es recurrente en la sociedad contemporánea, debido a las altas dosis de precariedad laboral en la que se mueve el mundo productivo. Los trabajos para toda la vida pertenecen a una historia pasada y lo normal es que las personas se afanen en hacerse un hueco en el competitivo mercado laboral de forma reiterada. Se ofrece asimismo los resultados parciales de un proyecto de investigación más amplio que aborda la tutoría, la toma de decisiones y las expectativas ante el futuro académico-laboral del alumnado de Bachillerato. Finalmente, se planean algunas reflexiones en la línea de que ya no es tan factible realizar labores de orientación a la antigua usanza, tratando de encauzar la vocación de las personas y ofreciéndoles información para que consigan un puesto de trabajo que les proporcione la felicidad de "trabajar en lo que a uno le gusta". Detrás de estas ideas subyacían las biografías normales, los itinerarios predecibles. La complejidad del mercado laboral hace harto difícil la transición a la vida activa. Una vez inmersos en ella, las biografías y los itinerarios laborales se construyen y reconstruyen al vaivén de las cambiantes fortunas de los tiempos.

Translated abstract

In the present paper I intend to put forward some inquiries regarding the socio-labor guidance and transition of the young people in the co-ordinates of contemporary society. The outstanding paradox in which some young people are immersed when trying to get a first, second, third employment is also analyzed: "The job of looking for a job". This is a common experience shared by many young people when they try to find a place in the complex labor panorama. Looking for a job is a recurrent situation in contemporary society, given the high dose of precarious employment in which the productive world moves. Life-long jobs belong to the past and what is normal is that people strive to enter the competitive labor market repeatedly. Moreover, the paper offers the partial results of a larger research project that approaches tutorship, decision taking and expectations before the academic-labor future of the studentship in the last years of secondary school. Finally, I suggest some insights in the line that it is not longer feasible to work with old-fashioned guidance, trying to channel people's vocation and offering them information so that they get a job that provides them with the happiness of "doing what you like". Behind these ideas lay the normal biographies, the predictable itineraries. Labor market complexity makes the transition to working life very difficult. Once immersed in it, biographies and labor itineraries are constructed and reconstructed at the rhythm of the changing fortunes of times.
