Acknowledging the diverse ways of knowing and communicating knowledge, this article suggests that community dance and cinematography can be powerful tools for sharing lived experiences. The research involved a community of 80 individuals, ages 5–50 years old, during the COVID-19 pandemic and under the strict measures of quarantine. Art-based research was the most suitable methodology for this research, as it gave the opportunity to embodied experiences to be analyzed. Focus group interviews, research diary, online dance improvisation classes and a production of a dance, feature film titled “POSI + IVE” were the methods used. The results showed that this creative, artistic project, especially during difficult times, fostered self-awareness, development of empathy for others and raised a sense of belonging to a community. Most importantly, the research empowered the participants to express themselves through movement, their “voices” to be heard and to become co-researchers.
