          Abstract

          Because damage to the rectus abdominis muscle during ileostomy placement and reversal might be a risk factor for the development of stoma-site incisional hernia (SSIH), we hypothesized that positioning of the stoma lateral to the rectus abdominis muscle might prevent SSIH.
