Abstract
The fimA gene, which encodes fimbrillin (FimA), is found in Porphyromonas gingivalis
and has been classified into six genotypes based on nucleotide sequence. P. gingivalis
that possesses the type II fimA gene is prevalent in adult periodontitis.
