          Abstract

          Resumen: El presente trabajo reporta los resultados de una investigación llevada a cabo con 384 docentes de nivel básico de la ciudad de León, Guanajuato, México, con el objetivo de analizar la relación entre las habilidades intrapersonales -representadas en consciencia emocional, regulación emocional, optimismo y autonomía emocional, como precursoras de la inteligencia emocional- y el burnout. Se aplicaron el inventario de competencias socioemocionales (ICSE) y la escala de desgaste ocupacional (EDO) para medir dichos atributos. Los resultados revelan niveles altos en optimismo, baja autonomía emocional, alta despersonalización, así como relaciones significativas entre las escalas antes mencionadas; por otra parte, existen diferencias significativas por género, edad, sector y nivel educativo donde se ejerce la docencia.

          Translated abstract

          Abstract: The present work reports the results of a research carried out with 384 elementary level teachers from the city of León, Guanajuato, Mexico, with the aim of analyzing the relationship between intrapersonal skills -represented in emotional awareness, emotional regulation, optimism and emotional autonomy, as pioneers of emotional intelligence- and burnout. The inventory of social-emotional skills (ISES) and the occupational burnout scale (OBS) were applied to measure these attributes. The results reveal high levels of optimism, low emotional autonomy, high levels of depersonalization, as well as significant relationships between the above-mentioned scales. On the other hand, there are significant differences depending on gender, age, sector and educational level where teaching is carried out.
