Abstract

Resumen El siguiente artículo profundiza en la arquitectura neocolonial de influencia hispánica en la provincia de Mendoza, tendencia que surgió y se popularizó en la primera mitad del siglo XX en el marco de búsquedas culturales relacionadas con la identidad. Para este estudio analizamos distintas obras de arquitectura y las ponemos en relación con las opiniones y representaciones publicadas en la prensa del período en los que la temática hispánica está presente. Como resultado observamos, durante las primeras décadas del siglo xx, un notable interés por lo español, que se expresó a partir de distintos soportes materiales y que constituye un importante acervo patrimonial de la ciudad y la cultura poco destacado por la historiografía local.

Translated abstract

Abstract The present article analyzes neocolonial Spanish style architecture in Mendoza, Argentina. This tendency emerged and became popular in the first half of the 20th century. For this study we relate architecture´s works and representations published in the press of the period that has the Hispanic theme in common. As a result we observe that, during the first decades of the 20th century, there was a notable interest in Spanish issue that was expressed through different supports that constitute an important heritage not studied by local historiography.
