Abstract

Resumen El trabajo analiza el uso actual de 34 zoomorfismos, extraídos del Vocabulario cubano de Constantino Suárez, un siglo después de su publicación. Para ello, dichas expresiones han sido cotejadas en diccionarios posteriores, en el sitio webcorp.org.uk y a partir de encuestas. En el análisis se han tomado en consideración la variación fraseológica, el cambio semántico y ciertas preferencias de uso de estos zoomorfismos en la actualidad. Entre los resultados destacan la presencia de variantes léxicas y la vigencia, en más del 65 % de las expresiones, del significado recogido por Suárez en 1921.

Abstract The paper analyzes the current use of 34 zoomorphisms extracted from Constantino Suárez’s Vocabulario cubano, a century after its publication. For this purpose, these expressions have been compared in later dictionaries, in the web site webcorp.org.uk and from surveys. The analysis has taken into account phraseological variation, semantic change and some preferences in the use of these zoomorphisms today. Among the results, the presence of lexical variants and the conservation, in more than 65 % of the expressions, of the meaning collected by Suárez in 1921 stand out.
