ABSTRACT The present paper sought a better understanding of the fauna of synantropic insects associated with different urban environments of Curitiba and São José dos Pinhais, Paraná, Brazil. The samplings were made during one year, using light traps with ultraviolet light and sticky traps, in companies. A total of 1,644 insects were collected, the food company being the place with the higher percentage of insects. Diptera was the most abundant order (42.9%), followed by Hymenoptera (21.5%) and Blattaria (13.7%). The density of insects reveals that it is important to intensify the sanitary vigilance in the studied locations as these insects act as mechanical transmitters of pathogenic organisms.
