          Abstract

          Translated abstract

Abstract: The primary objective of this research study is to analyze the educational benefits of the implementation of an innovative teaching experience articulated with collaborative learning proposals and the use of a renewable energy to address environmental issues. A qualitative and descriptive case study is conducted with a group of 32 natural sciences and physics teachers (in training) enrolled at two Colombian universities. The results indicate advances in understanding environmental issues and renewable energies along with their implications for teaching. In conclusion, the importance of collaborative learning is highlighted by promoting dialogues about environmental knowledge, processes, values, and critical actions regarding environmental issues that future teachers should embrace fully to adequately teach them to students.

What are batteries, fuel cells, and supercapacitors?

Electrochemical energy conversion devices are pervasive in our daily lives. Batteries, fuel cells and supercapacitors belong to the same family of energy conversion devices. They are all based on the fundamentals of electrochemical thermodynamics and kinetics. All three are needed to service the wide energy requirements of various devices and systems. Neither batteries, fuel cells nor electrochemical capacitors, by themselves, can serve all applications.
