Abstract

Este texto enfoca as relações entre ética e alteridade a partir da obra do filósofo lituano, radicado na França, Emmanuel Lévinas. Destaca-se a relevância de sua concepção de ética e de alteridade para os estudos psicológicos da constituição subjetiva e das relações intersubjetivas. Para Lévinas, o outro concreto e singular precede o sujeito (ainda em constituição) e o traumatiza. A relação intersubjetiva para Lévinas implica, necessariamente, um certo deslocamento, uma certa cisão ou modificação na experiência subjetiva. É a partir dessas posições que emerge uma concepção particular de ética, compreendida como o permanente reconhecimento do outro, que nos antecede e faz com que sejamos alguém. Assim, eticamente não há subjetividade sem que haja antes uma alteridade radical que a possibilite.

Translated abstract

This paper focuses the relations between ethics and otherness in the work of Emmanuel Lévinas, Lithuanian philosopher, who took French nationality. The relevance of his conception of ethics and otherness for the psychological studies of the subjective constitution and of intersubjective relations will be singularized. For Lévinas, the concrete and singular other precedes and traumatizes the subject (yet in constitution). For Lévinas, an intersubjective relation necessarily implies a certain dislocation, splitting or modification of subjective experience. It is from assertions like this that a singular conception of ethics emerges, understood as the permanent recognition of the other that precedes us and makes us somebody. Thus, there is no ethical subjectivity unless a radical otherness precedes it and makes it possible.
