          Abstract

          En este trabajo se presenta la adaptación al castellano de la Escala de Dificultades en la Regulación Emocional (DERS, Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale, Gratz y Roemer, 2004). Esta escala evalúa diferentes aspectos del proceso de la regulación emocional en los que pueden existir dificultades: Descontrol emocional, Interferencia cotidiana, Desatención emocional, Confusión emocional y Rechazo emocional. Para la validación del instrumento se realizó un estudio transversal (N=254) y otro longitudinal (N=60). En cuanto a la escala adaptada, el análisis factorial detectó cinco factores interpretables, uno menos que la escala original. También se presentaron datos acerca de la consistencia interna, de fiabilidad test-retest, de validez convergente y de validez incremental. En conjunto, los resultados muestran evidencia de las buenas propiedades psicométricas de la versión española de la escala DERS.

          Validity and reliability of the Spanish modified version of the Trait Meta-Mood Scale.

          This study examined validity and reliability of the Spanish modified version of the Trait Meta-Mood Scale in a sample of 292 Spanish undergraduates. The internal consistency estimates for subscales were all above .85, and the test-retest correlations after 4 wk. ranged from .60 to .83. The correlations between scores on the Spanish modified version of the Trait Meta-Mood Scale subscales and criterion measures (Beck Depression Inventory, Satisfaction With Life Scale, and Ruminative Responses Scale) were in the expected direction. In summary, the Spanish modified version of the Trait Meta-Mood Scale had appropriate reliability and significant relations with criterion variables as in previous studies with the English version.

            Solving the puzzle of deliberate self-harm: the experiential avoidance model.

            Despite increasing attention to the phenomenon of deliberate self-harm (DSH), the literature currently lacks a unifying, evidence-based, theoretical framework within which to understand the factors that control this behavior. The purpose of the present paper is to outline such a framework-the Experiential Avoidance Model (EAM) of DSH. The EAM poses that DSH is primarily maintained by negative reinforcement in the form of escape from, or avoidance of, unwanted emotional experiences. Literature on factors that may lead to experiential avoidance is reviewed, along with the mounting empirical evidence that DSH functions to help the individual escape from unwanted emotional experiences. The EAM integrates a variety of research on emotions, experiential avoidance, and DSH within a clinically useful framework that sparks novel research directions.
