          Abstract

          Resumen: El retraso académico constituye una problemática preocupante debido a las diversas consecuencias que produce. Los trabajos realizados en esta área han permitido identificar distintos factores que lo generan. También se ha estudiado variables de naturaleza “subjetiva” que inciden sobre este. Sin embargo, pese a que los programas universitarios que ofrecen apoyo al estudiantado apuestan a un fuerte componente afectivo y relacional, la experiencia emocional asociada al retraso aún es un campo poco abordado. El siguiente trabajo tuvo como objetivo conocer la experiencia emocional vivida ante el retraso académico. Se realizó un estudio cualitativo recurriendo a entrevistas semiestructuradas. Participaron 11 estudiantes de pedagogía de una universidad pública chilena. Se realizó un análisis cualitativo de contenido sobre los datos construidos. Los resultados apuntan hacia diferentes direcciones, tales como el impacto económico del retraso, el rol de contención de las y los compañeros, las influencias extraacadémicas en la génesis de esta situación, entre otros. Asimismo, el trabajo detalla diversos elementos utilizados para describir la experiencia emocional. Se construyeron cinco categorías, cuyos resultados fueron analizados en función de diversas aristas, considerando aspectos de orden conceptual y metodológico, hasta prácticos, como aquellos relacionados con la prevención e intervención de esta problemática.

          Resumo: O atraso académico é um problema preocupante devido às várias consequências que produz. Os trabalhos realizados nessa área permitiram identificar diferentes fatores que o geram. Foram também estudadas variáveis de natureza “subjetiva”. No entanto, apesar dos programas universitários de apoio aos estudantes terem um forte componente afetivo e relacional, a experiência emocional associada ao atraso ainda é um campo pouco abordado. O estudo que se segue teve o objetivo de conhecer a experiência emocional do atraso escolar. Foi realizado um estudo qualitativo utilizando entrevistas semiestruturadas. Participaram 11 estudantes de pedagogia de uma universidade pública chilena. Foi realizada uma análise de conteúdo qualitativa dos dados coletados. Os resultados apontam em diferentes direções, tais como o impacto econômico do atraso, o papel do apoio dos pares, as influências extra-acadêmicas na gênese desta situação, entre outras. O trabalho também detalha vários elementos utilizados para descrever a experiência emocional. Foram construídas cinco categorias, cujos resultados são analisados em função de diferentes perspectivas, considerando aspectos conceptuais e metodológicos, bem como práticos, como os relacionados com a prevenção e intervenção dessa problemática.

          Abstract: Academic delay poses a concerning issue due to its various consequences. Studies in this field have identified different factors contributing to its occurrence, as well as subjective variables influencing it. However, despite university programs offering student support with a strong emphasis on emotional and relational components, the emotional experience associated with academic delay remains relatively unexplored. This study aimed to understand the emotional experience of students facing academic delay. A qualitative study employing semi-structured interviews was conducted, involving 11 pedagogy students from a Chilean public university. A qualitative content analysis was performed on the gathered data. Results point towards various directions, including the economic impact of delay, the supportive role of peers, and extracurricular influences contributing to this situation, among others. Additionally, the study details diverse elements used to describe the emotional experience, constructing five categories whose outcomes were analyzed considering conceptual, methodological, and practical aspects, including prevention and intervention strategies for this issue.

              The Influence of Emotional Intelligence on Resilience, Test Anxiety, Academic Stress and the Mediterranean Diet. A Study with University Students

              The academic transition to university is a turning point in young people’s lifestyles. However, studies to date have focused on student behaviour within the classroom context, rather than on the consequences it may have on their lifestyle. This study aims to analyze the influence of emotional intelligence of university students on their resilience, academic stress, exam anxiety, and eating habits related to the Mediterranean diet at the university stage. This study was carried out with the participation of 733 male and 614 female students from the University of Almeria, aged between 19 and 27. A structural equation model was made to explain the causal relationships between the variables. The results showed emotional intelligence positively predicted resilience. In turn, test anxiety and academic stress were negatively predicted by resilience. Finally, test anxiety and academic stress were negatively predicted by the Mediterranean diet. In short, the results of the present study have shown that academic transfer to university and grading pressure can generate maladaptive consequences for food consumption.
